Week #3 – Yard – Grant Spears

Week number three of my internship at Ideal was a combination of more outdoor work and a bit more learning about how the yard operates. Dave Miller, my mentor, came back from his vacation on Monday, and I spent the first half of the day working on various tasks around the yard. The day was another half-day, and Tuesday was the Fourth of July, so I didn’t get to work. Wednesday was a nice change of pace from all of the work I’ve been doing cleaning up around the yard, and I was allowed to work on various tasks in the yard office, from scanning in vehicle titles to learning about expense reports and some of that kind of paperwork. Thursday was probably the most physically taxing day I’ve had working at Ideal, as I spent from about 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. working outside. (With an hour lunch in there somewhere) I mowed a bit of the area behind C building, sprayed weeds around the building, and began the process of cleaning out the fence-line in front of C building. Friday I wasn’t at work because I was at an off-season robotics competition. While short, my third week interning at Ideal was just as informative as the two weeks prior, and I feel like I’m starting to, “get into the groove of things,” here.
